Terms of Service

1. The app and its beta status

Pointless App is a client for original Mastodon and Misskey services and the Bluesky social app. It uses your chosen service’s official authorization and APIs. The Team does not operate every service or server you connect to.

The app is in Closed Beta with a limited group of testers. Features, supported platforms and API compatibility are under verification. Website descriptions do not guarantee that all features have shipped or will remain continuously available.

2. Eligibility and external rules

You must meet the minimum-age, parental-consent and other eligibility requirements of your chosen service, server and location. The app does not impose a blanket age-18 rule, but stricter service or server restrictions still apply.

Use only accounts you are authorized to access, and follow applicable laws, service terms and community rules. Do not bypass access restrictions or age checks.

3. Authorization and account management

Keep your devices and account access methods secure. Authorization takes place through the service’s approval flow; check the destination and permissions you approve.

Switch services in the account menu; actions use the currently selected account. Disconnecting an account from the app does not delete the external account. Revocation, recovery and deletion may require the outside service’s procedures.

4. Content and posting responsibility

You or the rightful owner retain rights to content. Using the app does not transfer ownership to the Team. Information is processed only as needed to provide the sending, display and storage functions you select.

Check your posting account, recipients, visibility and rights to attachments. Your service’s policies govern federation, reposting and external copies. The app does not automatically cross-post or convert drafts between services.

5. Prohibited conduct and safety

Illegal content, child sexual abuse or exploitation, non-consensual intimate images, threats, harassment, hate, privacy violations, impersonation, infringement, fraud, phishing, malware and spam are prohibited. So are security attacks, bypassing restrictions and unauthorized account access.

Reporting, muting and blocking work within your service’s capabilities and account permissions. Report app safety issues or child-safety concerns to support@pointless.chat. Do not attach or redistribute illegal imagery.

The Team may respond within systems and functions it controls and cooperate with operators or authorities as permitted or required by law. It cannot guarantee suspension of outside accounts or deletion of externally controlled content.

6. License to use the app

Subject to these conditions and applicable store rules, you receive a non-exclusive right to install and use the app on compatible devices you own or control. Third-party open-source components retain their respective licenses.

Except as permitted by law or a separate license, do not redistribute the app without permission or bypass security to access others’ data. Platform providers, including Apple, are not the service provider under these terms unless separately stated.

7. Availability, data protection and responsibility

Networks, operating systems, external APIs, authorization and push providers, and server policy changes may limit or interrupt features. Please report beta errors or delays. Do not use the app as your sole channel for emergencies or safety-critical communications.

The Team takes reasonable measures to protect drafts and account data and resolve problems. Keep important original files and external account recovery methods safe. These terms do not exclude mandatory legal rights or liability for the Team’s intentional misconduct or gross negligence.

8. Ending use and changes

You may stop using the app and disconnect accounts. Follow app functions and the privacy policy when cleaning up local data, external accounts and Relay connections.

The Team may change, restrict or end functions it controls for security, legal, external-API or reasonable operational reasons. Significant changes will be announced in advance where possible, with a separate consent process when required.

9. Privacy, disputes and contact

The separate Privacy Policy governs personal information. The Team does not arbitrarily use user content for advertising or analytics.

Please first contact the Pointless.chat team at support@pointless.chat about problems or disputes. These terms do not limit mandatory consumer rights or statutory jurisdiction where you live. If a provision is invalid, the rest remains effective as far as the law permits.
